RECF Resources

We are so excited to be involved in the RECF Achieve Robotics Competition and the RECF Inspire Robotics Competition! AndyMark is one of the build systems that is legal for use in competition, and the FIRST Tech Challenge Perimeter Kit (am-0481b) can be used for competition field perimeters. RECF Achieve provides broad robotics access for all students. Student resourcefulness and outside-the-box thinking with multiple robotics system options as well as allowances for custom plastic and 3D printing are encouraged. 

Field Components

The FIRST Tech Challenge Perimeter Kit (am-0481b) can be used for competition field perimeters. This is reusable from year to year and does not include soft tiles, game-specific items, or scoring elements. This is a tried and tested Perimeter that is comprised of four hinged panel pairs and four straight panels.

The field tiles that comprise the floor are unspecified by the game manual. Our FIRST Tech Challenge Field Soft Tiles are fully compatible with 12x12 fields. 36 tiles comprise a full field. 

Legal Components

Any product marked with the Part of the Robits Build System icon is legal for use in the 2026 RECF Achieve and Inspire Competitions. The relevant parts of the RECF Achieve Robotics Competition Pinnacle Game Manual 1.1 and Q&A read as follows:

2.2.3 Required parts 

Licence Plates

Plates must be between 2.48” x 4.48” in height and 3” x 7” in width, and use a text font and color that is legible from a distance. License plates can be up to 0.75" thick. You may use VEX V5® Competition License Plates, AndyMark FTC® Alliance Robot Signs, or create custom license plates using 3D printing or other means. License plates do not count towards your custom plastic maximum. 

2.2.4 Optional parts 

All Robits® by AndyMark structural and mechanical parts are considered legal, including: 

  • Robits® tubes, beams, gussets, carriers, channel, plates, aluminum slides, bushings, brackets, and standoffs 
  • Robits® wheels and tires
  • Robits® hardware, fasteners, spacers, screws, nuts, bearings, and springs
  • Robits® gears, hex shafts, shaft adaptors, and belts
  • Robits® chain sections, links, breakers, and tensioners
  • Robits® pulleys, pulley mounts, pulley bearings, pulley extensions, and slide pulley holders
  • Robits® turntable gears and assemblies

This is not a comprehensive list of legal Robits® by AndyMark components. Any non-electronic structure, motion, or hardware part from the Robits® by AndyMark system is legal for RECF Achieve. Please consider compatibility with VEX V5® system electronic components (such as motors) if utilizing Robits® by AndyMark components.  

2.2.5 Disallowed items 

  • Any electronic components from a system other than VEX V5®, including motors, servos, controllers, cables, sensors, batteries, and radios.
    • Electronic components from Robits® by AndyMark and Pitsco Education TETRIX® MAX are prohibited.
  • Any structural / mechanical parts from a system other than Robits® by AndyMark, Pitsco Education TETRIX®, or VEX V5® unless listed in rule 2.2.4.
  • Anything that compromises the safety of people, other robots, the field, or game pieces 

Q&A #3

Great question. We're changing the related rules in the v1.1 game manual, which will release on July 10, 2026. To facilitate the use of Robits® by AndyMark and TETRIX® MAX components, adapters, and parts made solely to adapt other legal hardware systems to VEX V5® electronics do not count towards the custom plastic parts limit and do not have to be designed or modified by student team members. In fact, AndyMark has started designing adapters for this exact purpose and the files are available on their website. Thank you!

The Robits system is not yet fully compatible with the V5 system; our engineers are working hard to verify and create compatibility. The following section contains all of our resources for adapting Robits to V5 electronics.

These parts can easily be printed to interface between the AndyMark Perimeter and the Override Game Set. For a Full Field, print 4 of each Match Loader Element and 8 of each Roller Element.
